What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is private therapeutic sessions focused on creating balance, increasing your wellbeing and helping you to positively manage your fibromyalgia. Using the ancient teachings of yoga and modern, evidence-based research, I create a tailored series of supportive practices for you to make lasting positive change in your life.

This is a complimentary therapy and can be engaged with in addition to GP, specialists, allied health and other healing modalities.

Why Yoga Therapy for Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a vast spectrum of experience and how you experience this condition will be different to how others experience it.

A common thread that tends to be shared among many who suffer from it is pain and fatigue. Sometimes it might feel like you're climbing a mountain and it never seems to get better. This is where gentle restorative yoga therapy can help, helping to soothe aching, frazzled minds and bodies and giving you relief that you can bring into every day.

If you’re a person who might class themselves as an “all or nothing” person or perhaps “Type A”, or if you experience “crashing” regularly, Yoga Therapy can help you.

We know that Fibromyalgia is a complex intersection of a multitude of factors which means we need to look at the whole self, and that’s what Yoga Therapy does. It offers you many tools to heal and support the many layers of the self: physical, emotional and psychological.

What to Expect

Yoga therapy initial assessment (90 mins)

Your in-studio initial assessment is essential to create your plan for wellbeing.

We begin with a deep-dive discussion about your lifestyle, injuries, ailments, habits, health and your goals.

I will then work with you to develop tailored practices that may include but are not limited to pranayama (breathing), mindfulness or meditation techniques, asana (yoga postures) and complimentary tools or practices for you dependent on your needs, energy and time.

These could be a simple 2-5 minute daily commitment, you don’t need to commit 1-2 hours a day to have success with yoga therapy!

You will then receive your follow-up personalised digital plan with your daily practice to be reviewed at your follow-up session.

Follow-up sessions (45 mins)

These sessions are designed to review your plan, discuss how you’ve been going and to make additions/changes to your practices. These sessions keep you connected and supported as you make meaningful change. These can be in-studio or online.

Yoga Therapy Journey

Your Yoga Therapy journey is tailored to you and your needs. It includes your in-studio initial assessment session, your in-studio follow-up and 2 Zoom follow-ups to help support you on your journey of healing.
